Getting to Milwaukee We recommend flying into Milwaukee’s General Mitchell Airport (MKE), or to either Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD) or Midway Airport (MDW). From Chicago you can rent a car, catch the Airport Express bus run by Coach USA, or take the Amtrak train. The train does not run directly from Chicago airports, but you can catch it in downtown Chicago.
We are providing a shuttle between conference sites and the Doubletree hotel. Here is the schedule:
|Day||Doubletree to Curtin||UWM to Doubletree|
|Thursday, April 10||1:00pm||8pm (from Sala)|
|Friday, April 11||8:15am||5:45pm (from Curtin)|
|Saturday, April12||8:15am||5:45pm (from Curtin)|
If you miss the shuttle bus, you can take a taxi. A fairly good resource for travel to and around MKE without a car can be found here.
If you are driving, there is parking available on campus. For more information, please consult this UWM Parking and Transit website.
Lodging We have set aside a block of rooms at the Doubletree by Hilton in downtown Milwaukee from April 9-13. Located just a few miles southwest of the UWM campus, the Doubletree Hotel is close to several restaurants and bars as well many local attractions. They have given us special room rates of $109 plus tax per night. Rooms may be reserved by calling the hotel at 1-414-727-2273. You can also register online through this dedicated link. This conference’s group name is UWM Center for 21st Century Studies. Please reserve rooms by March 9 to ensure this rate. The Doubletree’s address: 611 W. Wisconsin Avenue | Milwaukee, WI | 53203
